MCS-150 biennial update due date calculator
Every motor carrier must update its MCS-150 with the FMCSA every two years, even if nothing changed. Enter your USDOT number to see your due date.
How the schedule works
The FMCSA sets your filing month and year from the digits of your USDOT number (49 CFR 390.19T):

The next-to-last digit sets the year. Odd digit, file in odd-numbered years. Even digit (including 0), file in even-numbered years. The update is due by the last day of your filing month.
What happens if you miss it
The FMCSA can deactivate your USDOT number, which stops you from operating until it is reinstated, and civil penalties can run up to $1,000 per day, capped at $10,000. Brokers and shippers also check your record, and an inactive number costs you loads.
How to file
File online through the FMCSA Registration portal at fmcsa.dot.gov/registration. You need your USDOT PIN. The update takes about ten minutes. Filing is free; you do not need to pay a third-party service to do it.
